Japan is one of the cleanest safest countries on earth. Almost half the population of Japan has learned English for over ten years of their life yet has little opportunity to speak it conversely with a native speaker of English. Most people don’t know that Japan is one of the least UnReached peoples in the World. They have no concept of a Savior. They only know of various “lucky charm gods”, and worship dead idols and ancestors. Sadly Japan has the largest rate of suicide in the world. Every month close 4,000 people are lost to suicide. English conversation is a fabulous bridge to be able to share the hope of Christ.

“I came to the Conversational English class to brush up my English for the company. I had no interest in the Bible. Through the class I found a real God who offered me hope and confidence. Today I am a pastor who now works for the Lord.”
David shared:
“I recently went back to Japan to where I taught Conversational English close to 20 years ago. At the time I could not speak Japanese. At a friends house I met 8 students who brought their old tattered English/Japanese Bibles I had given them to read. Each one of them shared with me that they had found Christ as their personal Lord and Saviour and with tears testified that it was through the classes that they saw Christ’s presence work in their lives”

Christianity is in sharp decline in America, according to new research from the Pew Research Center, making for a significantly less Christian country than that of just seven years ago.
The number of Christians dropped by almost 8 percentage points in seven years to 71 percent, and the trend holds across race, gender, education, and geographic dimensions, though Christianity still dominates American religious identity at 70 percent, USA Today said.
“It’s remarkably widespread,” Alan Cooperman, director of religion research for the Pew Research Center, said, according to The Washington Post. “The country is becoming less religious as a whole, and it’s happening across the board.”he research also found that the percentage of people not affiliated with a religion has increased from 16 percent to about 23 percent over that period.
A number of key trends have emerged from the research, the Post said.
For one, millennials have become less affiliated with religion as they have aged over the last decade. In 2007, 25 percent did not affiliate with a religion. In the current survey, it’s 34 percent.
“Some have asked, ‘Might they become more religiously affiliated as they get older?’ There’s nothing in this data to suggest that’s what’s happening,” said Greg Smith, associate director of research at the Pew Research Center, according to the Post.
“That’s a striking and important note,” Smith told the Post.
Another trend indicates that those who are unaffiliated are becoming more secular.
The “nones,” or religiously unaffiliated, include atheists, agnostics and those who say they believe in “nothing in particular.” Of those who are unaffiliated, 31 percent say they are atheists or agnostics, an increase of 6 points since 2007.
“What we’re seeing now is that the share of people who say religion is important to them is declining,” Smith told the Post. “The religiously unaffiliated are not just growing, but as they grow, they are becoming more secular.”
The trend also holds for older generations as the percentage of baby boomers who identified as “none” increased from 14 percent in 2007 to 17 percent in the current survey.
“More people know the facts, and more people realize they are not alone,” David Silverman, president of American Atheists, told USA Today. “It’s now impossible for an atheist to think he is alone in this world. They are automatically empowered.”
“There’s a continuing religious disaffiliation among older cohorts. That is really striking,” Smith told the Post. “I continue to be struck by the pace at which the unaffiliated are growing.”
The poll also found that intermarriage has increased with each generation, with 39 percent in a religiously mixed marriage compared to 19 percent among those who got married before 1960, USA Today reported.

A second trend indicates that there are more religiously unaffiliated Americans than Catholics or mainline Protestants. The unaffiliated amount to 25 percent, compared to 21 percent for Catholics and 15 percent for Protestants.
Specifically, the numbers of Catholics and Protestants have both shrunk between 3 and 5 percentage points since 2007, while the evangelical share of the population is down by 1 point since that time.

LATEST NEWS: It’s a girl! First granddaughter in the Spurdle clan. She was born March 26th and named Olivia Dianne Gammill. Please pray that God will use her to touch the world for Christ. Thank you for your prayers for not only her but also for the Japanese who have no real hope. Years ago while waiting for a train at Mukonso Station I was sharing with God that I was ready to return to the
US after successfully helping in a pioneer church plant. Before my very eyes a young Jr. High girl flung herself off the train platform onto the oncoming express train. She was instantly killed being cut in half by the trains wheels. I cried out to the Lord, “Why did I have to see this?” Two days later was the Lords answer, “ People are born every second around the world, and people die every second.” Who cares? Do YOU? God got His point across, basically stating that if you and I have been “born again” and have been given Christ’s inheritance of power, ought we to give it away at any cost? If Christ says many times to GO or SEND, why do we come up with excuses? Just recently a SMI short-termer returned to NY where they invited a Japanese exchange student to their home. Tom and his family rejoiced to see their Japanese homestayer turn to the Lord. Tom was compelled to not only return to check up on their homestay child but also reached out to thousands of Japanese by handing them gospel tracts.
LESSON LEARNED: And these signs and wonders (miracles) will follow those who believe…Mark 16:16 Before me was a man using an expensive wheelchair to get around. While he was talking business with me, God said, “get down to the real business.” Changing the subject, I simply asked, “If you died tonight are you

In October , I was diagnosed with debilitating Arthritis of the spine and Scoliosis. I had three vertebrae in my neck which were almost fused together. Several doctors gave me no hope sharing that I would end up in a wheelchair with partial paralysis.
Things got progressively worse as I found out that I had systemic candid, which turned into Myofacial Fibromyalgia I relied on shots in which my whole body was in excruciating pain, and there was never any relief for over 3 years.
During this time I tried natural foods and saw that God could heal me. I felt a little better while I attended Bible prayer groups, yet I was still in great pain.
A missionary came to our church (SMI David Spurdle), who shared about the needs of Japan. I desired to go but in my condition I declined the invitation. Three items stuck in my mind that the team was going to learn and implement, Fasting

I was intrigued to experience these rare spiritual disciplines. David told me, "Maybe you can't go, but you are to be a sender financially, and you can fast and pray for us." "God will heal you completely!"

As the SMI team were on their mission trip to Japan, the Lord reminded me, And when you fast...."
On Wed. I decided to fast when the team in Japan was fasting for souls, and asked for Holy Spirit power. As I was praying for them, the Lord in an instant; completely healed me of all my stuff. I actually felt it lift off me and now I am back to living life, running, and exercising the way I use to.
Through all of this , my faith was tested, and strengthened, I gained wisdom, knowledge and understanding, saw the power of prayer, and most of all I have a deeper and closer relationship with the Lord Jesus.
To God be the Glory for all the ways He chose to heal and restore my body and life!
